our story
For months before I actually purchased it, I had been hanging out at Play Lounge. It was a great space to hang out and get some work done.
Owner Dave Troemel first discovered “Play”, as it was formerly known, as a customer. Drawn to its whimsical charm and sense of community, he eventually took the leap to become its new steward. Together with his husband, Jun, he’s transforming Play into a vibrant hub of creativity. where everyone feels like family.

We’re working with local roasters, local bakers, and local artists — because we want everything here to celebrate Palm Springs.
Every few weeks, Social Cafe features a new local artist, turning our walls into an ever-changing gallery of talent. From art shows and open mics to karaoke nights and weekend brunches with unlimited mimosas, Social Cafe is always evolving, but its heartbeat stays the same: local love.
Fueled by Coffee, Inspired by People
We’re going to focus on the coffee first, working with a local roaster to make a special blend just for us.
Our coffee program is the foundation of Social Cafe. We partner with nearby roasters and bakers to craft a uniquely Palm Springs flavor experience. One that’s warm, creative, and inclusive, just like our community.
